Red interinstitucional "No a la Trata"

Esta Red comenzó a gestarse en el mes de marzo, en Buenos Aires, Argentina, como resultado de la Conferencia "Pathbreaking Strategies in the Global Fight against Sex Trafficking", Washington D.C., 23-26 de febrero 2003 (a la que asistió Monique Altschul, Directora Ejecutiva de M.E.I.) y de la Jornada contra la Trata organizada por la Cancillería Argentina con la CIM/OEA, marzo 2003. Constituye también una continuación del Foro Internacional de Mujeres contra la Corrupción, Bs. As, 2002, organizada por 25 ONGs de Argentina con la coordinación de Fundación Mujeres en Igualdad.

En noviembre del mismo año se hizo el Seminario NO A LA TRATA La Red fue coordinada hasta marzo 2005 por Fundación Mujeres en Igualdad. Desde entonces M.E.I. ha asesorado a numerosos legisladores del Congreso Nacional, de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y de diversas provincias, así como a fiscales y jueces.

Ha dictado cursos, dado conferencias y participado de congresos nacionales e internacionales sobre el tema (Conferencias de Naciones Unidas, Transparencia Internacional, Vital Voices) Difunde regularmente noticias sobre GENERO Y CORRUPCION y sobre TRATA DE PERSONAS a través de su lista electrónica mujeresenigualdad@tau.org.ar

En 2008, se incluyeron dos paneles sobre el tema en el III Foro de Mujeres contra la Corrupción /1º Interamericano.

Trafficking in Persons

The Network against Trafficking in Persons (NTIP) was created by Fundacion Mujeres en Igualdad in March 2003, as an offspring of the Women’s Forum against Corruption. We held a national Forum against Corruption in 2000 and an International Forum in 2002 with the participation of women from Africa, Europe (Georgia, Ucrania), the Americas and the Caribbean, to debate how corruption affects the rights of women in its multiple aspects. It was a multistakeholding project, funded by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, The Global Fund for Women, The British Council, Interturis (tourism corporation), the Embassies of the U.S.A., Canada/Quebec, Italy, Chile and Mexico, Prolead/IDB, the Institute of Cooperative Funds. It was sponsored by the National Women’s Council - CNM, National Anticorruption Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Buenos Aires Women’s Direction, ombudsoffices, universities. We achieved it while we were undergoing Argentina’s deepest and darkest economic crisis.
